I wanted to decorate cakes every since I was 12 years old. My aunt Evelyn showed me roses and daises made with icing and I was fascinated. I also remember my mother decorating our birthday cakes with maraschino cherries and piping the writing out of snipped off corner of an envelope. Most of all I saw the love that went into those cakes.

In 1974 I got the opportunity to take my first class in cake decorating. I was pregnant and had quit work and had extra time. I realized it was something I enjoyed and did well. Soon I was making cakes for every occasion. Over the years I've worked in bakeries and wedding cakes have become my specialty. I love working with brides and planning their cakes for their special day.

Through the years I worked in many aspects of the food industry. In 1999 I read an article about being a Personal Chef. I decided to join the United States Personal Chef Association. I completed their program and started "Dinner at Your Place by Betty, and in 2000 I earned the Certified Personal Chef title.

I am now doing wedding cakes, catering and personal chef. In order to combine all my experience I have named my business Betty's Culinary Creations. I also work for my church, preparing meals for 20 to 400 people. I enjoy seeing the meals come together and people enjoying what I have prepared.

As a personal chef I enjoy preparing my clients meals according to their individual taste and dietary requirements. Knowing they are eating healthy and have more time to enjoy their families. I am a true foodie. I collect cookbooks and have well over 300 in my collection. Food Network is, of course, my favorite channel. In my spare time I try new recipes.
